Fastnet Sponsor Successful Rise ‘Heroes Run’

Posted June 11, 2019 by Thomas Lavis

We were proud to sponsor Kilometer 9 of the Rise ‘Heroes Run’ at Hove Park recently. Over 300 people turned up despite the rain, dressed up in superhero costumes – to raise money for their Children’s Counseling Service and have some fun!

R.I.S.E stands for Refuge, Information, Support and Education. They help those affected by domestic abuse, and work alongside survivors giving practical support to help them rebuild safer lives. They do this via fundraising events, including the HEROES RUN and RISE 8K. Every year they support over 1,800 women and their families to recover and reclaim their lives.

The 2019 Heroes Run event was all in aid of the Rise Children’s Counseling Service for 2019 / 2020. The RISE Therapy Team helps children affected by domestic abuse to overcome their experiences in a safe environment. Thanks to the support of participants and sponsors at their events, they can fund this crucial service for another year. You can see lots of photos of the event on the Facebook page here.

On sponsoring the event, Fastnet Co-Director Chris Lamb said:
“Rise’s cause is a heartfelt one. Based in our neighbouring office, we often see people coming in to see them, often accompanied by their children, and we’re humbled by their courage. We have previously donated books and toys for their refuges, and I thought that this fundraiser, focusing on children and safeguarding their recovery, was something else we could help with. We’ll look forward to offering support again next year, and wish them all the best for the rest of 2019.”
