The process for creating an email account depends on the type of email service you use.
If your email is hosted through cPanel, you may be able to create new email accounts directly from your cPanel control panel. If your email is hosted on our legacy POP3 service, new accounts will need to be created by the Fastnet Support Team. We can also assist with migrating your email from the legacy POP3 service to a modern IMAP-based cPanel platform if you would like to upgrade.
Creating an email account in cPanel
To create a new email account in cPanel:
- Log in to cPanel using the details provided by Fastnet.
- Go to the Email section.
- Select Email Accounts.
- Click Create.
- Choose the domain you want to create the email address for.
- Enter the username for the new mailbox, such as info, sales, or support.
- Set a strong password for the mailbox.
- Choose the mailbox storage limit, if required.
- Click Create to complete the setup.
Once the account has been created, the new email address can be configured in an email client such as Outlook, Apple Mail, or on a mobile device.
Please make sure the password is strong, unique, and only shared with users who need access to the mailbox.
Legacy POP3 email accounts
Some customers still use our legacy POP3 email service. These accounts cannot be created directly through cPanel.
If you need a new mailbox created on the legacy POP3 service, please contact the Fastnet Support Team by email or phone. A support engineer will create the account for you and provide the relevant details.
If you would like to move away from the legacy POP3 service, we can help migrate your existing mailboxes to our IMAP-based cPanel email platform. This allows you to access your email across multiple devices and keep messages synchronised.
When contacting us, please include:
- Your company name
- The domain name
- The email address you would like created
- The name of the user, if applicable
- Any specific requirements, such as mailbox size or forwarding
If you are unsure whether your email is hosted through cPanel or the legacy POP3 service, please contact the Fastnet Helpdesk and we will be happy to check for you.
